Ambassador Holbrooke and President Rahmon discuss Afghanistan stabilization

They discussed the situation in Afghanistan, the role of Tajikistan in stabilizing the country, and regional energy partnerships.

Dushanbe: Ambassador Richard Holbrooke, Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, made an official visit to Tajikistan on February 20.  During his visit he met with President Rahmon and gave a statement to local and international press about his visit.

He mentioned that, during his meeting with President Rahmon, they discussed the situation in Afghanistan, the role of Tajikistan in stabilizing the country, and regional energy partnerships. He noted that this is his third meeting with high-level Tajik officials in six months, and he expects to have more in the future.
