Announcing the 2008-2009 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program

The Embassy of the United States of America in Tajikistan is pleased to announce that applications are now available for 2008-2009 Hubert H. Fellowship Program.
The Hubert H. Humphrey program is a Fulbright program that brings accomplished mid-level professionals to the United States for a year of academic and professional work. This is a non-degree program. Appropriate candidates are mid-career professionals in leadership positions who have a commitment to public service and the potential for professional advancement. Prospective fellows should have a minimum of five years of professional experience prior to August 2008 and should be interested in policies pertaining to their fields of specialization.
In addition, prospective fellows must have completed a university degree program requiring at least four years of full-time study in order to qualify for admission to U.S. programs or graduate study and be proficient in both written and spoken English with a minimum test of English as a foreign language (TOEFL) score of 525 paper-based, or 195 computer-based.
Fellowships are granted competitively to public and private sector candidates with a commitment to public service in the following fields:
A. Agricultural Development/ Agricultural Economics B. Communications/Journalism C. Substance Abuse Education, Treatment and Prevention: ECA cooperates with the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) in co-funding Humphrey Fellowships in substance abuse treatment and prevention. Candidates in this field must either have a research background in the field or demonstrate an ability to learn to understand the results and policy implications of current research.
D. Economic Development/Finance and Banking E. Educational Administration, Planning and Policy F. HIV/AIDS Policy and Prevention G. Human Resource Management H. Law and Human Rights I. Natural Resources and Environmental Management J. Public Health Policy and Management K. Public Policy Analysis and Public Administration L. Teaching of English as a Foreign Language (Teacher Training or Curriculum Development) M. Technology Policy and Management N. Trafficking in Persons, Policy and Prevention O. Interested persons should submit completed application materials to the Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan by September 1, 2007. Late applications will not be accepted.
