The U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan Presents the 2008-2009 Fulbright Research Scholarship Program

The Government of the United States of America and the U.S. Embassy in RT announce the 2008-2009 Fulbright Research Scholarship Program, which is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States of America and Tajikistan. The Fulbright Research Scholarship Program provides fellowships for one semester (4-6 months.)
Applications will be accepted in the following research fields:

Criteria for eligibility – applicants must:
- be citizens of Tajikistan
- teach at least one course at a University
- lack funding for research in the United States
- hold a Ph.D. or Doctoral degree
- be proficient in written and spoken English
- be able to demonstrate professional attitude and leadership potential in the field of specialization
- be able to begin research in the United States in autumn 2008
- be eligible to receive and maintain a U.S. visa
Persons applying for or holding permanent residence in the United States are not eligible. The Fulbright Scholars enter the United States on an Exchange Visitor (J-1) visa under a Department of State program and are subject to the two-year home-country residence requirement associated with the J-1 visa.
