OPENING CEREMONY OF DUSHANBE'S NEW SYNAGOGUE

On May 4 Ambassador Jacobson participated in the opening ceremony of Dushanbe’s new synagogue.  Members of the New York and Israel-based Bukharan Jewish communities joined Tajikistan’s Jewish community for the event. Tajik entrepreneur Hasan Asadullosoda provided the building.  Following a meeting with synagogue attendees, Ambassador Jacobson said she hoped the new synagogue would serve as a cultural center and resource for Tajiks of all faiths.
