Ambassador Jacobson's Interview with Radio Liberty on the occasion of 4th of July

U.S. Ambassador Tracey Ann Jacobson touched upon a wide array of topics in her interview dedicated to U.S. Independence Day with Radio Liberty on July 2.  Ambassador Jacobson answered questions about the prospects of U.S. investments in Tajikistan, the effectiveness of Tajikistan's electoral system, human rights and religious freedom, as well as the presidential campaign in the United States.  She called the decision by the Government of Tajik to not register the National Democratic Institute “disappointing.” Regarding the misreporting by Tajikistan's National Bank to the International Monetary Fund, the ambassador noted that by honestly and transparently implementing steps agreed to with the IMF, the Government and the National Bank could restore some confidence with international financial organizations.  Please see the RFE/RL website for the full interview (in Tajik).
