The U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe is hiring an Economic/Commercial Specialist. Serves as Economic and Commercial Assistant under immediate supervision of Economic Officer. Gathers information from government, international and local sources, both written and human, undertakes substantial economic and commercial research and carries out in-depth economic analysis to inform U.S. policy on economic reform, corruption, and the commercial climate in Tajikistan. Maintains contacts with Government and private and international economic and business actors on economic and commercial issues. Executes research, contact, advocacy and reporting assignments of moderate scope and difficulty in promoting U.S. foreign policy objectives and supporting U.S. investors and businesses exporting to Tajikistan.

Required Qualifications:
1. Possession of a bachelor’s degree or host country equivalent in economics, marketing, or business administration is required. A master’s degree in the subject discipline is highly desirable.
2. Minimum three years of prior job related formal experience in economic research, market research, trade promotion, commercial banking, or other closely related fields is required.
3. Level IV (fluency) in written and spoken English and Russian, level III (good working knowledge) in written and spoken Tajik is required.
4. Ability to develop and maintain working level contacts in government and private business within Tajikistan. Ability to analyze policy, projecting probable impact.
5. Must have a sound general understanding of Tajikistan's economy, local business customs and practices, marketing channels, and Tajikistan government laws, regulations and policies. Must have a detailed knowledge of the economic/commercial structure and institutions.
