Warden Messages
The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan would like to bring to the attention of American citizens residing or traveling in Tajikistan the following message distributed via the Consular Warden System of the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan:
Bishkek Warden Message on Earthquake Preparedness - February 13, 2007
The U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan would like to remind American Citizens that Kyrgyzstan is located in a seismically-active zone. In light of recent moderate-scale earthquakes with epicenters in Kyrgyzstan, we would like to offer the following resources for earthquake preparedness:
- Earthquake preparedness at Overseas Posts (big file – 1.2 MB)
- A helpful link to Mexico City’s Earthquake Preparedness plan. This includes a family earthquake preparedness plan, a residential earthquake hazard reduction checklist, what to do during and after an earthquake, and information for wardens in the event of an earthquake.
The key to surviving an earthquake is planning. This information will help you plan for a major disaster. Remember it is important to involve your entire family in the planning. Because earthquakes occur without warning, it is important to take steps now to minimize their effect on your family.
