The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan would like to bring to the attention of American citizens residing or traveling in Tajikistan the following message:
Travel Notice - June 11, 2007
This notice is being issued to encourage American citizens traveling or resident in Tajikistan to carry their valid passports with valid Tajik visas and visa registration (or at least copies of these documents in an emergency) with them at all times while traveling within Tajikistan. Americans should carry these documents with them so that, their proof of identity, U.S. citizenship, and valid visa status in Tajikistan are readily available when they are questioned by local officials. Always check your visa and registration validity dates so that these documents can be renewed if necessary before they expire.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Under current Tajik law, foreign citizens staying in Tajikistan for more than three calendar days must register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or OVIR of Tajikistan within three business days of arrival in Tajikistan. We encourage all American citizens to register with the U.S. Embassy as well even if they are temporarily in country.
