Warden Message - Simin Off Limit - July 20, 2007
The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan would like to inform American citizens residing or traveling in Tajikistan that club Simin in Dushanbe remains off limit for official U.S. Embassy personnel due to safety concerns.
The U.S. Embassy Regional Security Office has designated club Simin off limits to all official American personnel. Over the weekend of June 16, 2007, a large group of men outside club Simin attacked and seriously injured three official Americans. Club management, security, and local authorities were unable or unwilling to safeguard the Americans from the violence. In June 2007, club Port Said was put off limits. This restriction has been lifted.
The Embassy advises Americans to always exercise extreme caution when visiting bars or nightclubs, particularly late at night.
